Tom shifted to East Gippsland from from New Zealand 15 years ago with his welding skills in his back pocket. He bought a Kwik Kerb business, which is still going strong, however it’s his welding which has provided additional income and met his creative needs. Tom has always advertised Kwik Kerb at local markets, but needed something extra to attract customers. “Kerbing is a bit seasonal and weather-dependant, I needed additional income,” he said. “I started making metal scrollwork and timber frames and decor using imported artwork. “I then bought a CNC Plasma cutter to create my own artwork and to extend the range. I then needed to move into a workshop and moved into what was Bairnsdale Powder Coating building and bought the existing powdercoating equipment.” CNC Plasma provides Tom with a variety of opportunities. He can create fire pits, garden art, privacy screens, custom logos and personalised signs. On top of this Kwik Kerb lays domestic and commercial concrete edging in a wide variety of shapes, colours and styles. It is the ideal way to create functional and attractive borders around garden beds and along driveways.
